Both preventative and diagnostic pet care rely on the ability to perform laboratory testing on animals’ blood, urine, feces, and biopsied tissue. Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Clinton Hill has a complete in-house laboratory, capable of performing a wide range of basic laboratory procedures, in order to help our medical team make the most accurate assessment of your pet’s health.
By performing tests at the clinic rather than shipping samples off to a regional laboratory for testing, we have the benefit of direct, immediate access to your pet’s results. In the case of serious illness, this access enables us to diagnose your pet as quickly as possible and get started on a treatment plan right away.
Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Clinton Hill has the capability to capture digital x-ray images with our digital radiography machine. There are many advantages to employing digital radiography over traditional film radiography, including:
The benefits of digital radiography enable your veterinarian to diagnose your pet with accuracy and efficiency. X-rays help veterinarians identify a wide variety of medical problems, including bone fractures and breaks, bladder stones, tumors, and the presence of foreign objects, like the sock a curious dog ate!
Whereas an x-ray can only show us the rough outline of your pet’s internal organs, an ultrasound can provide a detailed look inside the organs. An ultrasound machine sends sound waves into your pet’s body and evaluates the echoes to form a complete picture of the inside of your pet. This technology enables your veterinarian to diagnose conditions that were previously only able to be diagnosed through invasive procedures. Ultrasound is useful in monitoring heart conditions and detecting cysts and tumors on any of the abdominal organs.
